My Medicare Registration

If you would like to register with MyMedicare and choose Mount Nelson Medical Centre as your preferred medical centre, you can now register online or in person at our clinic.

MyMedicare aims to enhance the relationship you have with your preferred doctor and medical center. By consistently visiting the same clinic and seeing the same GPs for your medical appointments, your chosen doctor can offer you more personalized and continuous care. While you’re free to visit other clinics, you’ll enjoy additional benefits at your selected clinic.

If you’d like to make our medical center your ‘home clinic,’ you’ll need to register with MyMedicare, select our center, and choose your preferred GP. We warmly invite our current and past patients to designate our medical center as their preferred home clinic.

What is MyMedicare ?

MyMedicare is a new way to formalise relationships between patients and their healthcare providers. Seeing your GP regularly and formalising your relationship with them through MyMedicare can lead to better health outcomes.

When you register in MyMedicare and select your preferred healthcare provider, they can get additional government funding to deliver the care you need.

When a patient and their preferred provider are both registered, the benefits include:

> Access to longer Medicare-funded telehealth consultations

> Connections to more appropriate care for people with chronic conditions who visit hospital frequently

> More regular GP visits and better care planning for people living in a residential aged care home.

Can I register online ?

Yes you can register online by Beginning the registration process through your Medicare Online Account or the Express Plus Medicare Mobile app. Find Mount Nelson Medical Centre in the list of registered GP clinics in MyMedicare before you start. Our staff will then accept your registration in the MyMedicare system.

1. Log into the Medicare app
2. Navigate to ‘MyMedicare’ under Services
3. Select ‘Start’
4. Search for Mount Nelson Medical Centre
5. Select your preferred Practitioner
6. Review and submit your regustration

Step by step guide to register for MyMedicare via my.gov.au

1. Log into your MyGov account
2. Navigate to ‘Medicare’ under Linked Services
3. Select ‘Register for MyMedicare’
4. Select ‘Start’
5. Search for our medical centre
6. Select your preferred General Practitioner
7. Review and submit your registration

How to register in Person Via our practice

1. Visit us in our practice with your medicare card
2. Talk to our friendly reception team to fill out and sign the MyMedicare form
3. Our team will submit your registration on your behalf

Is this compulsory to register ?

Registration is entirely voluntary. You can choose not to register, but by doing so, you may miss out on the additional Medicare benefits available when you select Mount Nelson Medical Centre as your preferred ‘home clinic’.

Can I register with multiple clinics ?

No, MyMedicare is designed to strengthen the relationship between you and your preferred medical center and doctor. Children are exempt from the requirement of visiting their GP twice in the past 24 months.

Do I need to register children?

Registration is optional for all patients. To receive MyMedicare benefits for your children, you must register each child with MyMedicare and select their preferred clinic and GP.

A parent or guardian must register a child under 14 years old and provide consent on their behalf. This registration must be completed in person at the practice using the paper form.

Young people aged 14 to 17 years can register and provide consent independently. If a parent or guardian registers a minor aged between 14 and 17 years, the minor will need to tick a box confirming they have provided informed consent.

Am I “locked in” to a clinic once I register?

No. You are free to visit any medical center or doctor you prefer; however, you will only receive the extra Medicare benefits at your selected ‘home’ clinic. If you change your mind, you can unregister at any time.
